| Advanced Fire Fighting |
| Description: |
This four day course is one of the most important safety courses for professional seafarers. Blue Water is one of only 2 schools approved to run it outside the UK and the only one in continental Europe. This course covers the syllabus required by the STCW Code 1995 Table AVI/3 and is not a yacht restricted certificate. It is a management level course aimed at those holding or aspiring to MCA certificates of competency in both deck and engineering specialisations.
The course takes place at the firegrounds in Manresa, Spain, and contains much practical fire fighting using all different types of extinguishers, hoses and breathing apparatus. Students gain experience in fighting fires in an enclosed space with heat and smoke in a series of escalating exercises designed to build confidence. They will also acquire an appreciation of command and control problems.
Any respiratory or cardiac conditions should be drawn to attention of the instructor. The practical drill can be physically demanding so students should be reasonably fit. You will be asked to sign a disclaimer.
Pre-Requisite:
Students must have attended the STCW95 Basic Firefighting course or had equivalent basic fire training involving the wearing of breathing apparatus.
