Kjell Vesto to join Oyster as Operations Director on 1st October 2009
Vesto who has had a very successful, 30-year career with Nautor’s Swan covering a wide range of roles, was closely involved in the development of yachts from 36 to 131 feet, including traditional Cruiser/Racers, One-design racers, One-Offs and Superyachts, and now joins the Oyster Group. Oyster reveal that Vesto and his wife have chosen to take advantage of their children moving on to university and spend the next decade living and working away from their native Finland.
Kjell will take up the role of Operations Director in charge of Oyster’s design, engineering and project management teams and will initially focus his experience on increasing efficiency at Oyster’s yards, as well as product and design development and the delivery of yachts to customers. Establishing the role of Operations Director will enable CEO David Tydeman to focus on the Oyster Group’s Business Development activities. Commenting on the appointment David Tydeman said, “I am very pleased that Kjell’s arrival allows for a managed handover with our most senior Director, Alan Brook, who will take on a non-executive role pending the arrival of his own new Oyster 56.”
